When you plug in at home, WeaveGrid identifies your current and target battery level. Based on your daily mileage needs and charging speed, our algorithms determine when the charging should begin such that your target battery level is reached ahead of the Departure time you’ve set in your WeaveGrid dashboard settings.
WeaveGrid works by optimizing and updating your ‘Start Charging At’ setting in your Tesla app when you plug in. WeaveGrid initially sets a basic off-peak Tesla schedule that starts at midnight. Within a few minutes of plugging in at home, WeaveGrid will generate an optimized schedule. You’ll see the ‘Start Charging At’ setting will update to the time that has been optimized for you, based on your particular needs, your utility EV program incentives, and broader grid circumstances.
After WeaveGrid has set an optimized schedule, editing the ‘Start Charging At’ or ‘Departure’ settings in the Tesla app directly will temporarily disable the WeaveGrid generated charge schedule for your active or next upcoming charging session. Your changes will be respected for that session. After that, the basic midnight schedule is restored.
You can always override the charge schedule generated by WeaveGrid directly on your charger or vehicle, or through their dedicated apps. You can also reply “CHARGE NOW” to 59972 to start charging immediately. Keep in mind that if you override your charge schedule more than two times in a month, you won’t receive the bill credit for that billing cycle.
